Powerball is played each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday night.
LANSING, MI – Two players will split the $632 million Powerball jackpot as winning tickets were sold in California and Wisconsin for the drawing held on Wednesday, Jan. 5.
That means the drawing on Saturday, Jan. 8 will be worth $20 million with a cash option of $14.2 million.
The $632 million jackpot is the 7th largest in the history of the Powerball game. Prior to Wednesday’s winners, no one had won the Powerball since Oct. 4, 2021. Since that drawing, there had been 39 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner.

Powerball winners for Jan 5:
· Along with the grand prize winner, 14 tickets sold matched all five white numbers drawn to win $1 million. Those tickets were sold in Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York and Texas. Four of those winners were sold in Florida and two were sold in New York.
· One of the players in Florida and the player in Georgia also played the Power Play option which increased their winnings to $2 million.
· The jackpot increased prior to the drawing from $630 million to $632 million.
· Detailed results for winners in Michigan were not available at press time.
· There were 3,071,446 tickets sold that won at least $4 in the drawing.
Powerball is offered in 44 States, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Players select five white numbers from (1 to 69) and one red ball (1 to 26). Tickets cost $2 each.

· The next Mega Millions drawing is Friday, Jan. 7 with an estimated jackpot of $278 million and a cash option of $193 million.
· The next Lotto 47 drawing is Saturday Jan. 8 at 7:29 p.m. with a jackpot of $1.25 million. Deadline is 7:08 p.m. that day.
· Thursday’s Fantasy 5 jackpot is worth an estimated $105,000. The drawing is at 7:29 p.m. Deadline is 7:08 p.m.

The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot is the Wolverine FLL lottery club which claimed a $1.05 billion jackpot in March. With their winnings, the group plans to give back to the community.
And while they were lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately as a winner worth $1 million sold in Hartland in 2019 went unclaimed. The ticket was purchased at the Speedway in Hartland, but the winner never came forward to claim the prize. The money instead went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
