David Okereke – Called up again to rescue U23s
Club Brugge striker David Okereke and Orji Okwonkwo, who features for MLS club Montreal Impact, have been drafted for Tuesday’s U23 AFCON playoff return leg against Sudan in Asaba.
Both Okereke and Okwonkwo featured in the return leg of the previous round qualifier against Libya in Asaba.
U23 AFCON champions Nigeria have to overcome a 1-0 loss they suffered in Sudan Thursday night to advance to the U23 AFCON in Egypt in November.
Several of the foreign-based call-ups failed to live up to expectations in Sudan.
The U23 AFCON will serve as qualifying tournament for 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Kick off time at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba will be 4pm.
