25th February, 2018
The Federal College of Education (FCE, Technical), Akoka, Lagos, affiliation with the University of Benin (UNIBEN) for the running of a degree programme had led to increase in its enrolment.
Dr Sijibomi Olusanya, the college Provost, made this known on the sidelines of the matriculation of the UNIBEN/FCE (T), Akoka affiliated programme for the 2017/2018 academic session.
Olusanya said that following the introduction of the degree programme two years ago, the college had enjoyed over 100 per cent increase in its enrolment.
According to him, 150 students were admitted for the programme when it started two years ago, but over 400 were admitted this year.
“Enrolment into the college has increased spontaneously following awareness that the institution has been affiliated with UNIBEN and that students who graduate from such programme would earn a dual degree.
“The students will earn a Bachelor Degree and a Degree in Education also,” he said.
Olusanya lauded the interest, support and logistics provided by UNIBEN’s principal officers and staff of the Department of Vocational and Technical Education, Psychology and Curriculum studies.
The provost had on Saturday urged the matriculating students to set high academic and moral standards.
He also urged them to observe the laid down regulations of the college, eschew evil and shun all associations and groups that would put them on collision path with the institution’s authorities.
NAN reports that 404 newly admitted students for the 2017/2018 academic session were matriculated for the UNIBEN /FCE(T), Akoka affiliated programmes.
